Dear Members,
The Editorial Board of the Malaysian Orthopaedic Journal (MOJ) is in the process of editing the November 2007 issue of MOJ. We observed that many reviewers are providing their comments by electronic method. The overall quality of our local peer-review process has also improved significantly. We are hopeful that the duration between closing date and the printing of journal can be shortened to four and a half months. This will probably be our basic frame of editorial timetable in future. This development is timely as we have organised a brand new MOJ homepage that will offer online submission of manuscripts and also online uploading for reviewer response. The homepage also provides useful literature related to scientific publication and many other relevant matters.
MOJ has received approval from Kementerian Keselamatan Dalam Negeri for the publication permit and had just obtained its International Standard Serial Number (ISSN) on 28th August 2007. We are now in the process of applying for SCOPUS (one of the largest international medical abstract indexing body). We will also be applying for MEDLINE indexing in April 2008 (need to evaluate 3 journal issues). If the application is successful, all prior publications used for evaluation will be retrospectively indexed. The Editorial Board will try its best to source good quality articles and maintain high standard of peer-review process to ensure that the journal will achieve international recognition.
Finally, we would like to remind our members that the closing date for the April 2008 issue (3rd issue) of MOJ is 30th December 2007. We also encourage researchers or clinicians from orthopaedic related fields (including basic science studies) to consider publishing in MOJ. We strongly encouraged electronic submission through our homepage. Please note that there is slight modification of the instruction to authors in accordance with the requirement for international indexing. We plan to print this issue for circulation during the ASEAN OA Congress in Kuala Lumpur next year.
Thank you.
Regards,

Dr Saw Aik
