Tsunami Disaster in North Sumatra: How You Can Help

As a member of Malaysian Orthopaedic Association, how can you help?

Several NGOs have invited MOA to work together in helping the victims in the North Sumatra.

As a professional body, we can only encourage our members to get involved voluntarily.

With the help of the NGOs, MOA tsunami medical relief commit managed to identify several areas that we may contribute effectively.

  - Hospital Zainal Abidin (Dr Azharuddin)
- Hospital Kesdam (Dr Yushar Harun)

- Providing Orthopaedic consultation and treatment for field medical units :
  - Hospital Bulan Sabit Merah Indonesia BSMI (Dr Wahid)
- Malaysian Army Hospital (Dr Zakaria)

- Visiting and assisting in Dutch Mobile Orthopaedic Hospital (Mr Ejgil)

- Sourcing donations for instruments and implants from orthopaedic organizations for these hospitals
- Field trips to villages for general medical consultation and treatment.

We would like to encourage MOA members to consider spending between 10 to 13 days in Banda Aceh to help the people and orphans who are torn from their families and displaced form their homes.

We would also like to express our gratitude to the NGOs that has contributed tremendously to the course and helped to arrange for our activities in Banda Aceh.
